Biography

Marguerite Mary Dwyer was born Marguerite Mary Cote on March 12, 1912 in Saint-Charles, Quebec, Canada. She was the oldest child of Theodore and Alida Cote. Her siblings were: Rita (Cote) Cadaret, Frank Cote, Irene (Cote) Sheehan, Roger Cote, and George Cote.

Marguerite's first marriage was to Joseph Michael Larue (1911-1994) in 1932. They had one daughter: Kathleen Mary Larue, born on September 10, 1943.

Marguerite's second marriage was to Richard Dwyer (1899-1983). They had two daughters: Irene, born on December 16, 1946 and Elaine, born on April 10, 1951.

Kathleen (known as 'Kate' or 'Kathy') married James M. Young (1938) on November 21, 1964. They have three children: Jennifer Ann (1966), Daniel Allen (1968), and James Byers (1968). Dan is married to Jacqueline (nee Merrifield). They have two sons: Derek (1996) and Ryan (1999). Jim is married to Elizabeth (Lisa) Wight. They have two children: Henry (2007) and Claudette (2010). Claudette's middle name is Marguerite (named after Grandma).

Irene married Michael Mlot (1947) on September 9, 1967. They have three children: Michael or "Mike" (1970), Gerald or Jerry (1973), and Kelly (1982). Kelly has a son named Thomas.

Elaine married John Escott (1948-2003) on November 29, 1975. They have three daughters: Amy (1977), Sarah (1979), and Katie (1982). Amy is married to Chris Johnston. They have one son: Zachary (2010). Katie is married to Patrick Klein.

Marguerite was a faithful, lifelong Roman Catholic; she was fluent in French and English; she was a labor Democrat and she worked as an ice woman, a fur finisher, and a seamstress. She lived in Quebec, Canada; Garden City, Michigan; Detroit, Michigan; Romulus, Michigan; and Livonia, Michigan.

With her daughters at her side, Marguerite died on June 13, 2000. She is buried at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Novi, Michigan.
